TLC Graduate Program Advisor selected as participant of IUPUI Next Generation 2.0

Associate Professor of Technical Communication and Chair of Technology Leadership and Communication Graduate Programs Marj Hovde was recently selected as a member of the IUPUI Next Generation 2.0 leadership initiative program. This 9-month leadership development program is "designed to prepare faculty and professional staff who are women and/or members of underrepresented populations for positions of leadership and opportunities for advancement at IUPUI and in higher education." (IUPUI Office for Women)

IUPUI Faculty Members Present at Cyberlearning 2017

Christian Rogers and Corinne Renguette, faculty members from the IUPUI School of Engineering & Technology, presented at Cyberlearning 2017, sponsored by the National Science Foundation and the Center for Innovative Research in Cyberlearning. Chris and Cori are collaborating with Jerry Schnepp from Bowling Green University on the development and testing of EASEL (Education Through Application-Supported Experiential Learning) to facilitate opportunities for reflection before, during, and after learning experiences.

OLS Student Amber Kriech was recognized as an outstanding leader at the 20th Annual Women's History Month Leadership Awards, held by the IUPUI Office for Women and the Division of Student Affairs on March 28th.

TLC Graduate Assistant selected as member of IUPUI Elite 50

Laura Green, a TLC Graduate Assistant, has been selected as a member of the IUPUI Elite 50, a group of IUPUI graduate students who are recognized for noteworthy achievement inside and outside of the classroom.

Laura's community engagement through the US2020 STEM Mentoring Initiative and service fraternity, Alpha Phi Omega, have inspired her to pursue a career in organizational development through community engagement and social responsibility.

A graduate assistant in the TLC Department since 2015, she conducts research on the impact of mentoring and volunteerism in businesses and industry.

She will graduate in August 2017 with a Master of Science in Technology focused in Organizational Leadership and with a graduate Certificate in Human Resource Development. 

Laura plans to gain workplace experience in Indianapolis before eventually pursuing a PhD in Leadership and Development.

TLC Student Spotlight

Danielle McDougal is an IUPUI Honors College Scholar and May 2017 candidate for degree completion with a Bachelor of Science in Technical Communication and the Honors Minor in Leadership. She is on track to graduate with highest distinction and begin her career as a technical writer, documenting procedures for manufacturing equipment for Nice-Pak.  Dani is also a contributing author for a local magazine – Around the Lakes.
